Immerse yourself in the soft enchantment of midsummer and join us for a watercolour workshop woven with the colours and fragrances of the season’s most beautiful blossoms. Enjoy a morning watercolour painting ‘Midsummer Blooms’ as we celebrate the summer solstice and the abundance of the season. Imagine the fragrance of scented stock and soft hues of cosmos and sweet william swaying in a gentle summer breeze as we capture their vibrant beauty with watercolour, as we welcome budding artists to a creative watercolour art workshop at Glydewood, Castlebellingham.

Materials provided. Just bring yourself.

To start we will do an overview of the fundamentals of watercolour painting, including paper quality, brush types and painting techniques and everything you need to get started. After practising some different techniques, We will do a step by step demonstration to get everyone started on their composition. We will go through all the steps from composition, drawing, colour mixing and painting techniques. I will help participants to select summer blooms to paint, such as Cosmos, Hydrangeas, Sweet William and Stock to name just a few. Inspired by seasonal flora and the scents of the summer, we will have lots of fresh summer blooms for everyone to respond to, feel and observe for inspiration. We will work on a loose floral watercolour art piece of ‘Midsummer Blooms.’

Experienced painters and beginners welcome.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced painter, this workshop is a chance to slow down and connect with both nature and creativity. Surrounded by soft petals and fragrant blooms you are sure to be inspired and capture a moment as light and airy as midsummer itself… 

Caoimhe O’Dwyer is an award winning designer and an honours graduate of Ireland’s National College of Art and Design (NCAD). After studying fine art and design Caoimhe specialised in fashion design while completing her B. Des. She has studied in the Acadamia Koefia Di Alta Moda in Rome and has worked with acclaimed international designers in New York and Paris and Rome.
Caoimhe won the international Mittelmoda fashion award in 2004, which led to a commission as consultant to La Perla in Bologna, Italy in 2005. She established the Caoimhe O’Dwyer fashion label from her studios in Malahide, Co Dublin before moving to Castlebellingham with her family in 2008.
